The funeral of Richard Warner, the death of whom was announced yesterday, will be held Thursday afternoon, at 2 o’clock at the Christian church, the service being conducted by the Rev. Dr. W.D. Samuel. The G.A.R. will attend in a body.
Mr. Warner was 76 years of age at this death. He was a veteran of the civil war, serving in the 71st OVI and for many years was a member of Alexander-Mitchel post G.A.R. He was born and raised in Piqua. His health had been good until a few years ago when he received a severe fall that affected his general health.
His wife died May 10th, 1891, leaving him with a family of nine small children, one, a boy, being taken by diphtheria, within a few weeks of the mother’s death. There are left to mourn for him six daughters, two sons, and twenty five grandchildren. The daughters are Mrs. Samuel Darnhardt, Piqua; Mrs. Frank Proctor, Springfield; Mrs. George Roath, Oklahoma; Mrs. ___ Harriman, Dayton; Mrs. Chas ____, Columbus, and Ms. John Grissom, Piqua. There are also two brothers, Andrew Warner of Hamilton and George Gurten, Piqua.
