Piqua, OH Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock for John Wesley
Grove, 85, a Civil war veteran at the late residence on West Water Street.
Burial was made in Riverside cemetery, Troy.
Mr. Grove was one of less than a dozen surviving veterans of the Civil war
residing in this city. He died at
his home Sunday following a prolonged illness.
His Civil war record included service in the 71st Ohio Regiment.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Mr. Charles Bunker of
Christiansburg, Mr. Ivan Reedy, Lansing, Mich., Mrs. Herbert Buchanan, Piqua;
and two sons, Frank Grove of Homeworth, near Christiansburg, and Gilbert Grove,
a member of the Piqua fire department.
