Col. J.R. Woodward or Tippecanoe, died last Tuesday. His disease we believe, was dropsy of the hear which was aggravated by a bilious fever from which Col. W. had been suffering for some time previous to his death. He was well known in Miami County and had a host of warm friends and he loss which is felt by this death was evidenced by the large procession which followed his remains to their last resting place. The Tippecanoe Guards and a squad of the Pearson Guards in full uniform escorted the remains to the grave.
Col. Woodard was about thirty-five years of age, and was a genial kind heated gentleman. He was a man of winning social qualities and ever delighted to have his friends around him in the pleasantries of social intercourse. The death of such a member of society always creates a void.
