The funeral of Cyrus Kauffman was held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the home of Mrs. E. L. Crane, where he resided.  The services were conducted by Rev. W. F. Rangeler, pastor of the English Lutheran church, assisted by Rev. G.P. Austin, pastor of the M. E. church and Rev. Enos Pemberton of Ludlow.    The deceased was 75 years of age and during early life was a residence of this place, afterwards engaging in business in Nebraska.  He leaves six children by his first marriage whose homes are in the west.  Two of them, Mrs. Mattie Roschkolb of Gas City, Kan., and Mrs. Anah Avey, of Brownville, Neb., were present at the funeral.  In June 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah E. Taylor, the primary teacher in our schools, and since made this his home.  He was highly esteemed as a citizen, and being connected wish some of the home industries.  He unquestioned business integrity was commendable.  Mr. Kauffman served in the Civil War, and was an honored member of the 71st O.V.I.  He was carried to his last resting place in Maple Hill cemetery by H.H. Bryant, U.J. Favorite, H. J. Ritter, John Clark, W.B. TenEyck and A. W. Miles.
