Notes added by his daughter in November 2002:
Another one of those discrepancies that we see while doing family
research. His birth certificate says Robert K. Lachot, mother Erma
May Stone. His birthdate Dec, 5, 1923. We know her as Erma May Stem.
We celebrated his birthday as Dec. 7th.
My father was raised there. His name was Robert Kenneth Lachat.
He was adopted as a teenager and his name was changed to
Kenneth Joseph Schaeffer.
His adopted aunt (Katherine Elsman Wahmhoff) was an employee at
the Children's Home. I see that 2 of his 1/2 siblings (Estella
& Wilbur
Dumond) are on the list of the Children's Home. I did know that
they
were there. I can provide some more info on them if desired.
