ADAMS, CHARLES H. - At the residence of the bride's parents, in this city, on Tuesday evening, Oct. 7, 1879, by Rev. J. H. Burton, Mr. C. H. Adams, of Decatur, Ill., and Miss Lulu Flemming, youngest daughter of D. M. Flemming, Esq., of the Piqua Journal.  The marriage ceremony, which was after the Episcopal form, with the wedding bell, and in the midst of the most tasteful floral decorations, was solemnized in the presence of a large number of neighbors and friends, and not a few invited guests from abroad.  Among the guests from abroad were Mrs. J. L. Adams, Miss Mary Strohm and Mr. Toney Adams, of Decatur, Illinois, Messrs. Ed. Goode and John G. Stauffer, of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. A. Flemming and Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Ely, of Cincinnati, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Peters, of Columbus.  The bride's presents were abundant and very valuable, and the entire occasion one of rare enjoyment.  At 9 p.m. the happy couple took the westward bound train for their new home at Decatur, carrying with them the good wishes of a large circle of friends who have known the young bride from childhood, and who part from her most regretfully. COLEMAN, JESSIE L. - One of the most pleasant companies of the season gathered at the residence of Dr. H. Coleman, to witness the marriage of his daughter, Jessie to Samuel Davis.  At the appointed time, two o'clock, the guests were received in the pleasant parlors by Dr. and Mrs. Coleman.  Shortly after this time the bridal party entered in the following manner: Dr. and Mrs. Coleman, Miss Frazier, of Warsaw Ind., and Mr. Goldthait, of Marion Ind., Miss Rebie Coleman, sister, and Mr. Frank David, brother of the groom, Miss Turner, of Dayton, and Mr. Allen, cousin of the bride, Miss Mattie Dye and Mr. Ed. Coleman, brother of the bride, then the bride and groom.  The party took their positions at the side of an arch, which was beautiful with smilax and a horse-shoe and bell attached.  The bride wore white silk made princess en train, elaborately trimmed, high corsage, elbow sleeves; covering all this was a long tulle veil, fastened to the hair by a wreath of rosebuds.  Miss Mattie Dye, in pink silk, occupied the position of first bridesmaid; Miss Turner, in a light blue silk, Miss Rebie Coleman, white tarlatan; prettily trimmed with smilax and white silk corsage, Miss Frazier, white tarlatan with smilax trimming and cardinal silk corsage.  The gentlemen, arrayed in black suits and white gloves, took places at the right of the groom.  Rev. Mr. Clokey, of the Presbyterian Church, with prayer book in hand, stepped forward and the Episcopal ceremony was performed.  Then came the congratulations of many friends, after which all partook of the bountiful dinner provided for the occasion.  About four o'clock the bridal party left in carriage for Piqua, from which place Mr. and Mrs. Davis started for their new home--Kansas City.  Among the guests from a distance were Mrs. Davis, mother of the groom; Mr. John David, a brother; Mrs. Wm. Johnston; Mrs. and Miss Daniels; Rev. and Mrs. Burton; Mr. D. M. Fleming and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Pursell; Mr. and Mrs. Nelson; Mr. and Mrs. Walker Dorsey; Mrs. Morrison Orr; Misses Hamilton; Messrs. John Daniels, John Young, Walter Gray, Al. Roe, Amos Sawyer, from Piqua; Miss Chaffee, Tippecanoe; Miss Gooduric, Ft. Wayne; Mr. and Mrs. Coles, Springfield, O.; D. Potter, of Glendale. Only a week or two since the UNION noted the departure of Miss Davidson, from Troy, where she had been on a visit for some time, for her Pennsylvania home, and we little thought that her return would be so soon, and in the capacity of wife to one of Troy's best citizens.  "They say," who always know, and announce approaching nuptials, had not the slightest inkling of this happy event.  Mr. and Mrs. Weatherhead will make a somewhat extended Eastern trip, before they return to their Trojan home.  They will receive a cordial welcome on their return by a host of friends of both the bride and groom who join with us in extending to the wedded couple hearty congratulations and well wishes for future happiness.  June 21, 1879 (MU)

FLEMMING, LULU - At the residence of the bride's parents, in this city, on Tuesday evening, Oct. 7, 1879, by Rev. J. H. Burton, Mr. C. H. Adams, of Decatur, Ill., and Miss Lulu Flemming, youngest daughter of D. M. Flemming, Esq., of the Piqua Journal.  The marriage ceremony, which was after the Episcopal form, with the wedding bell, and in the midst of the most tasteful floral decorations, was solemnized in the presence of a large number of neighbors and friends, and not a few invited guests from abroad.  Among the guests from abroad were Mrs. J. L. Adams, Miss Mary Strohm and Mr. Toney Adams, of Decatur, Illinois, Messrs. Ed. Goode and John G. Stauffer, of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. A. Flemming and Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Ely, of Cincinnati, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Peters, of Columbus.  The bride's presents were abundant and very valuable, and the entire occasion one of rare enjoyment.  At 9 p.m. the happy couple took the westward bound train for their new home at Decatur, carrying with them the good wishes of a large circle of friends who have known the young bride from childhood, and who part from her most regretfully. HARLOW, LAURA C. - How They Chimed at Piqua Thursday Morning - A large number of invited friends assembled at St. James Episcopal Church last Thursday morning to witness the ceremony uniting as man and wife, Mr. Walter D. Jones and Miss Laura Harlow.  Promptly at 11 o'clock the large organ peeled forth a wedding march and the bridal party entered the church.  The ushers--Messrs. George Fry, George Brooks, John Young and Chas. Sawyer--took their position in front of the Chancel.  First came Mrs. Harlow on the arm of the Groom-elect and following came the bride-elect, on the arm of her uncle, Dr. G. V. Dorsey.  Rev. Mr. Burton, pastor of St. James, united the couple, using the beautiful and impressive ceremony of the Episcopal Church, after which the newly married pair left immediately to take the train for Cincinnati. NESBITT, BELLE - A large number of friends assembled at the residence of Mr. James Nesbitt, on West Water Street, last Thursday evening, to witness the marriage of his daughter, Belle, to Mr. Charles W. Holm.  The ceremony took place at 7 o'clock, Rev. M. A. Richards, of the Mulberry Street Methodist Church, officiating after which the guests partook of a royal feast which had been provided for the occasion.  Mr. Holm the happy groom, has made Troy his headquarters for several years, he being one of the enterprising and successful fruit tree dealers, and he has many friends who congratulate him on his new conquest. SWARTS, MILLIE - Orange Blossoms - The following account of the marriage of a young gentleman well-known in Troy, we clip from the Cincinnati Commercial of Thursday last.  FASHIONABLE JEWISH WEDDING.  Last evening at 6 o'clock Miss Millie Swarts, daughter of Mrs. J. L. Swarts, of No. 358 West Fourth St., was united in marriage to Mr. Jacob J. Wertheimer, of St. Louis, at the Plum Street Temple, by Rabbi Wise.  The event has been looked forward to with the greatest interest by all the Jewish residents of Cincinnati as one of the most fashionable affairs of the season.  At the appointed hour the bridal party filed into the Temple, up the main aisle to the impressive strains of Mendelssohn's grand old Wedding March.  Preceded by the ushers in full evening dress, came the happy pair, the groom looking proud in his possession of the lovely Miss Swarts, who was arrayed in rich, ivory-white satin, cut princess, trimmed with point lace and flowers.  Besides a wreath she wore a long tulle veil, artistically embroidered with satin.  Noticeable among the costumes present were the following: Mrs. Morris Friedman, black silk velvet and grenadine; Mrs. Lou Weiler, pink brocade satin; Miss Carrie Stix, ivory white brocade silk, trimmed with velvet and silk flowers; Miss Annie Wolf, silk grenadine, striped with gold, and Mrs. Stix, white silk and lace.  After the ceremony, the invited guests repaired to the Phoenix Hall on Central Avenue, where justice was done to a dinner that was princely in its magnificence, the menu having been prepared under the special supervision of Lindermann.  Covers were laid for two hundred.  At the conclusion of the banquet, during which toasts were given with suitable responses, dancing was indulged in until a late hour, and when the assemblage dispersed there was a universal feeling that the night had been one of unequated enjoyment.  Mr. and Mrs. Wertheimer will leave the city to-night, and after a short tour will go to St. Louis, their future home, accompanied by the best wishes of a host of Cincinnati friends.  (NO DATE IN EMAIL)

WEATHERHEAD, HENRY P. - Orange Blossoms - At the home of the bride, in Newville, Penn., on Thursday, June 19th, 1879, Mr. Henry P. Weatherhead, of Troy, to Miss Nellie Davidson.  Only a week or two since the UNION noted the departure of Miss Davidson, from Troy, where she had been on a visit for some time, for her Pennsylvania home, and we little thought that her return would be so soon, and in the capacity of wife to one of Troy's best citizens.  "They say," who always know, an announce approaching nuptials, had not the slightest inkling of this happy event.  Mr. and Mrs. Weatherhead will make a somewhat extended Eastern trip, before they return to their Trojan home.  They will receive a cordial welcome on their return by a host of friends of both the bride and groom who join with us in extending to the wedded couple hearty congratulations and well wishes for future happiness.  June 21, 1879 (MU)

WERTHEIMER, JACOB J. - Orange Blossoms - The following account of the marriage of a young gentleman well-known in Troy, we clip from the Cincinnati Commercial of Thursday last.  FASHIONABLE JEWISH WEDDING.  Last evening at 6 o'clock Miss Millie Swarts, daughter of Mrs. J. L. Swarts, of No. 358 West Fourth St., was united in marriage to Mr. Jacob J. Wertheimer, of St. Louis, at the Plum Street Temple, by Rabbi Wise.  The event has been looked forward to with the greatest interest by all the Jewish residents of Cincinnati as one of the most fashionable affairs of the season.  At the appointed hour the bridal party filed into the Temple, up the main aisle to the impressive strains of Mendelssohn's grand old Wedding March.  Preceded by the ushers in full evening dress, came the happy pair, the groom looking proud in his possession of the lovely Miss Swarts, who was arrayed in rich, ivory-white satin, cut princess, trimmed with point lace and flowers.  Besides a wreath she wore a long tulle veil, artistically embroidered with satin.  Noticeable among the costumes present were the following: Mrs. Morris Friedman, black silk velvet and grenadine; Mrs. Lou Weiler, pink brocade satin; Miss Carrie Stix, ivory white brocade silk, trimmed with velvet and silk flowers; Miss Annie Wolf, silk grenadine, striped with gold, and Mrs. Stix, white silk +and lace.  After the ceremony, the invited guests repaired to the Phoenix Hall on Central Avenue, where justice was done to a dinner that was princely in its magnificence, the menu having been prepared under the special supervision of Lindermann.  Covers were laid for two hundred.  At the conclusion of the banquet, during which toasts were given with suitable responses, dancing was indulged in until a late hour, and when the assemblage dispersed there was a universal feeling that the night had been one of unequated enjoyment.  Mr. and Mrs. Wertheimer will leave the city to-night, and after a short tour will go to St. Louis, their future home, accompanied by the best wishes of a host of Cincinnati friends.  (NO DATE IN EMAIL)
