J. M. Kendall, farmer, P. O. Piqua; was born, Nov. 14, 1836, in this township (Newberry); was reared a farmer, but has been engaged in several other different pursuits; he is now attending his farm, which lies in the north part of this township, and has everything tidy about the farm and premises. He married Miss Jerusha, a daughter of James Patterson, deceased; they have three children; Olive B., Joseph L. and Matellus. His father, William Kendall, a native of Pennsylvania, was left an orphan, and, when 8 years old, he came to Ohio with an uncle, about the year 1813; in early life, he learned the carpenter's trade, and followed the business for ten or twelve years; he purchased a farm in the northeast part of this township, and lived there until his decease.
