KIRK, DAVID KINGSLEY (KING)
- David Kingsley (King) Kirk,
age 85, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at his residence
after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 27, 1926 on the Kirk
family farm on Alcony Conover Road to the late George H. Kirk and Dorothy
(Moyer) Kirk. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Jones) Kirk of almost 60
years. Mrs. Kirk is from Tipp City. He is also survived by two daughters,
Kerry (Richard) Elifritz of Troy, Cindy (Rick) Gold of Piqua; one son,
Robert Kingsley (Corena) Kirk of Troy; two brothers, Roger (Nancy) Kirk and
Tom (Betty) Kirk, both of Casstown; twelve grandchildren, Jenny (Mike)
Zapadka, Julia (Matt) Reid, Chris (Angela) Kirk, Joe (Tiffney) Elifritz,
Josh (Lindsay) Gold, Angie (Kevin) Fritts, Alicia (Jonathan) McEldowney,
Heather (Pedro) Mendoza, Sarah Gold, Aaron Kirk, Casi Kirk, Andrew Kirk, and
nineteen great-grandchildren, soon to be 22. In addition to his parents,
Mr. Kirk was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Allen Kirk, at birth;
two brothers, Donald in 2008, Charles in Korea; and a sister, Betty, in
childhood. Mr. Kirk was a 1944 graduate of Lost Creek Schools. He was a
U.S. Army veteran of the Rainbow Division in World War II, a member of
Lostcreek United Church of Christ, past Master of Mt. Olivet No. 226 Masonic
Lodge, Christiansburg, and a member of Ancient Valley of Dayton Scottish
Rite. Mr. Kirk was a sports enthusiast and big Cincinnati Reds fan. He was
an avid Miami East sports booster and 4-time Ohio State Horseshoe Champion.
He joined the 300 Club by bowling a perfect game at Troy Bowl. Mr. Kirk was
a farmer for 15 years and retired from Hobart Brothers as a computer
programmer after 26 years of service. Services for Mr. Kirk were held on
August 24 at Lostcreek United Church of Christ, with Pastor Jason Egbert
officiating. Burial followed at Casstown Cemetery with military honors.
