SHAFFER, RALPH O. - Ralph O. Shaffer, 92, of West
Milton, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008. Shaffer was a realtor for
many years in the Miami and Montgomery County areas. He was also a
local farmer and exhibited sheep at state and local fairs for more than
50 years and was nationally known as a judge. Ralph was a member of the
Blue Lodge of West Milton, the Shriners, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite,
the Antioch Shrine Marching Patrol, West Milton Rotary Club and a member
of the West Milton United Church of Christ. He is survived by his
daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Jean Wheelock of West Milton, Sharon
Darlene Brooks of Pennsylvania, Tanis Sue Saul of Arizona, Peggy (Saul)
and Edwin Lowther of West Milton; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and
Donna Shaffer of West Milton, grandchildren, Edwin Lowther III,
Jacqueline (Jeff) Noll, Kristal (Chad) Chestr, Cynthia (Jerry) Hartman,
Jame (Bill) Worden, Nick (Kim) Wheelock, Daniel Reedy, Julia (Bill)
Duncan; 18 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren, relatives
and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline
Shaffer, second wife of 60 years, Janice Shaffer, granddaughter, Bonnie
Thiede, parents, Jesse and Bertha (O'Dell) Shaffer. Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the West Milton United Church of Christ
(108 S. Main St.) with pastor Mark Moore officiating. Interment will
follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in West Milton. If desired,
memorial contributions may be made to the West Milton United Church of
Christ. The Kindred Funeral Home, Englewood is handling arrangements.
