GENSLINGER, RALPH - Ralph Genslinger, 93 of
Germantown,
(formerly of Tipp City) passed away of congestive heart failure on Aug. 23,
2008 at Kettering Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Myrna V. Genslinger (Miller) of 70 years in 2004. Also he was preceded in
death by his father and mother, Herman and Mary (Jenkins) Genslinger; a
sister, Margaret Filburn Wade and a sister, Louise Vocke (Roland). He is
survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Miller Hornbeck (Kenneth) of the Masonic
Home, Springfield. Genslinger had retired in 1963 from Delco Moraine as a
tool grinder. For 18 years he volunteered as Captain for the Miami County
Auxiliary Ohio State Patrol where he supervised over 60 men. Ralph served
in the United State Navy, WWII. He was Commander of the Tipp City American
Legion, Post No. 586 during the years 1947-48 and was recently given the
honor of Life Time Membership. Ralph was a past district leader of the
Miami County Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Germantown
United Methodist Church. Ralph was a member of the Tippecanoe Lodge No. 174
of Free and Accepted Masons of Tipp City. He was a member of the Kings
Point Club, Sun City Center, FL. He is survived by his son, Kent Genslinger
and daughter-in-law Charlotte Eidemiller Genslinger of Germantown, and
daughter Mary Lynn Grice and son-in-law Elden of Blairsville, Georgia.
Also, he is survived by his grandchildren, Mitch S. Genslinger (Beth) of
Germantown, OH, Kile Genslinger (Shelly) of Germantown, OH, Lori Lynn
Riscile (David) of Apollo Beach, FL, Jeff Grice and fiancee, Cheryl of
Palmetto, FL; great-grandchildren; Abby Genslinger, Andy Genslinger, Cole
Genslinger, KiLee Genslinger, Collin Genslinger, Stephanie Riscile and
Rachel Riscile. Several nieces and nephews survive him: Denise Hornbeck
Smith (Bob) of Dayton, Janie Filburn Smith of Dayton, Jerry Filburn of
California, Phil Hiatt (Mel) of Tennessee, Larry Miller (Barb) of Tipp City,
and Al Vocke (Joy) of Dayton. He was very fond of his pet cat, Mickey. The
family wishes to thank Dr. Bernard Berks of Germantown, OH and Nurse Karen
at Kettering Medical Center for their loving care to Ralph. Relatives and
friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Germantown United
Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Carla Stengel at 140 E. Market St.,
Germantown, Ohio Thursday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. Also relatives and friends
are invited to attend the graveside service provided by Frings and Bayliff
Funeral Home at Tipp City Maple Hill Cemetery on Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. with
Rev. Dr. Carla Stengel of Germantown United Methodist who will conduct the
service. There will be Masonic services at 1 p.m. by the Tippecanoe Lodge
No. 174 of Free and Accepted Masons. The Tipp City American Legion Post No.
586 will close the service with their ceremony to honor veterans. If you so
desire, donations may be made to the Germantown United Methodist Church
Capital Fund or the Germantown Rescue Squad in Genslinger's name.
