THOMAS, KATHRYN ROSE (NEE: MECK) - Kathryn Rose Thomas, 92, formerly of Lorain, more recently of Tipp City, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at SpringMeade Health Care Center, Tipp City.  She was born March 6, 1916, in Lorain, to the late Charles and Luena (Schneider) Meck.  Her husband, Raymond M. Thomas, preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2000.  She is survived by a son, Paul Thomas and fiancee Carol Frank of Troy; daughter, Joan M. (Phillip) Warren of Dayton; three grandchildren, Jennifer Ann (Brian) Bowman of Troy, Michael Warren of Dayton and Christopher Warren of Dayton; and two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Emma Bowman.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur Meck.  She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic Church Grade School, and Lorain High School, class of 1933.  She also was a member of the National Honor Society.  Mrs. Thomas was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lorain, and of the Loyal Christian Benevolent Association 893; former president of the National Council of Catholic Women from 1973-1975; tour director for 50 tours for the National Council of Catholic Women visiting American and Canadian Shrines; she and her husband promoted rosary services in all of Lorain County parishes for 25 years.  She was the director and driver for the American Red Cross for 10 years; she served on the board of Goodwill Industries for five years; and she worked for Lorain County Board of Elections for 49 years.  A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 3, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Kathryn's name.  Friends may express condolences to the family through www.bairdfunerahome.com.
