BYRKETT, ELIZABETH JOYCE (FOSTER) GATES - Elizabeth Joyce
(Foster) Gates Byrkett, age 79, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Englewood and
Tipp City, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 at St. Mary Hospital in Knoxville.
She was born Oct. 15, 1928 to the late Ida and Robert McWhorter in Keokee,
VA. She co-owned Gates Electric in Englewood from 1956 to 1966 and later
owned the Clothes Closet in Knoxville, TN. Elizabeth loved the Lord with
all her heart, she loved her home, flowers and her spoiled rotten puppy
"Angel". She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law;
Charles B. (Connie) Gates, Jr. of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Barbara A. Brandt
of Dayton, 2 granddaughters; 2 great-granddaughters; brothers, James E.
(Betty) Reynolds of TN, Robert M. (Janie) Reynolds of GA; sister, Lois M.
Walker of GA; half brother, W. C. (Fay) Frasier of GA; half sister, Janice
(Bill) Willis of VA; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Byrkett; parents, Robert and Ida
(Arnett) McWhorter; brothers, J. R. Reynolds, Clarence Reynolds; sister,
Margaret Arnett and son-in-law, Jimmie Brandt. Funeral services were held
Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Kindred Funeral Home with Pastor William Brown
officiating. Interment followed the service at Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp
