SMITH, WILLIAM A. - William A. Smith, 85, of Hecht's Landing, Celina, and formerly of Troy, passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at his residence.  He was born May 19, 1921, in Silverhill, W. VA., to the late Earl and Irene (Kisner) Smith.  He also was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Mary (Mucci) who passed away on Dec. 27, 1993.  William is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Charlene Smith of Virginia Beach, VA.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Frank Moore of Newton Falls and Edith and William C. Klosterman of South Bend, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Jim Moore of Paw Paw, Mich.  In addition to his parents and his wife, William was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.  He was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy.  William was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served his country in World War II and the Korean Conflict.  William retired by B. F. Goodrich, Troy after 32 years of service, and then he retired from the Upper Valley JVS, Piqua, after 10 years as an instructor in Heating, Air Conditioning, Hydraulics and Boilers.  William was a member of the Mercer Co. Sportsmen's Association, American Motorcyclists Association and Amateur Radio Operators.  He also was a life member of the VFW Post 5436, Troy, where he was a two-term former commander, life member of the AMVETS Post 88, Troy, member of the American Legion Post 487, West Milton and the National Rifle Association of America.  Funeral services were held Thursday at the Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, with the Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating.  Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, with a military service at the graveside by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy, 2220 Lefevre Rd., Troy, OH 45373.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.fishercheneyfuneralhome.com
