BUCKLES, WILLIAM V. - age 49, of New Carlisle, OH, died Sunday, May 22, 1944 at 8:40 A.M. in his residence. He was born March 4, 1945 in Springfield, OH, the son of Virgil and Janis (Carter) Buckles. Bill graduated from Springfield South High School in 1963. Received his B.S. from Wittenburg University in 1967 and his masters degree from the University of Dayton in 1981. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, teacher & guidance counselor at Olive Branch Middle School, member of F&AM #0619 St. Andrews Lodge, Springfield, member and past high priest Springfield Chapter #48 Royal Arch Masons, Springfield Council #17, Palestine Commandery #33 Springfield, member New Carlisle Church of the Brethren. Survived by his wife, Susan J. (Leapley); son, James William Buckles; daughter, Marissa Buckles; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Elizabeth Leapley; brother and sister-in-law, David and Deborah Leapley; nephews, Chris and Brian Leapley, all of New Carlisle. Preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held Thursday, May 26, 1944 at 10:30 A.M. in the Church of the Brethren, New Carlisle with Rev. Gene Hipskind officiating. Burial in New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 3-8 P.M. in the Trostel, Chapman & Christmas Funeral Home, New Carlisle. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Tecumseh Educational Foundation, New Carlisle Church of the Brethren or Mercy Hospice.
