SHAW, LT. COL. GEORGE E. - A requiem eucharist was held on
Saturday morning, February 9, for Lt. Col. George E. Shaw, 45, of 175
Chatworth Road, North Kingstown, R.I., in St. Paul's Church in Wickford,
where he had served as vestryman. A retired veteran of 22 years in the Air
Force, he died February 7 in Rhode Island Hospital after a six month
illness. He was the husband of the former Doris Honn of Tipp City. A
native of Pittsburgh, Pa., he retired in 1970 after receiving many
decorations in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He held the Distinguished
Flying Cross with oak-leaf cluster, the Bronze Star for valor, and the Air
Medal with eight-oak-leaf clusters. Survivors include his father, George E.
Shaw of Eastlake, Ohio; two sons, George E. and Andrew P., both at home; and
his mother-in-law, Mrs. Florence Honn of Tipp City. Burial was in Elm Grove
Cemetery, North Kingstown. Arrangements were made by the George C. Cranston
Funeral Home. The family requested that those who wished to do so would
make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
