GEORGE F. PFISTER - George Frederick Pfister, of South Short Street, passed away at 5:45 o'clock Saturday evening  at the Miami Valley hospital in Dayton, following an operation, which was performed on that day.  He was taken to the hospital Saturday morning and after the operation had revived and there was every hope of his recovery, but his heart was unable to stand the strain and he passed out of life in the evening.

Mr. Pfister was born January 8, 1858 in Rotenburg Obder Tauber, Germany, being the son of George and Eleanor Pfister.  He came to this country in 1882, and in 1884 at Covington, Ohio married Miss Anna Leuckhardt.  He is survived by the wife, two sons, Christian Pfister of Troy, and William Pfister of Seattle, Washington, a daughter, Mrs. Virgil McKinley of Troy; two brothers, John Pfister of Troy and August Pfister of Germany, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Kessler of Troy and Mrs. B. Abraham of Germany.

By trade Mr. Pfister was a harness maker and worked for Miller Brothers, but for 13 years he was a partner in the Trojan Coal Company, selling out his interest six years ago to Charles Miller.  Then with his son Christian Pfister, he took over the Jewel Theater on East Main Street, five years ago, and later, both become identified with the Troy Amusement Company.

Mr. Pfister was a member of St. John Evangelical church, having served on its council.  He was a member of the Troy lodge of Elks, the Red Men and the Druids, both of Piqua.  The son, William Pfister, left Seattle Sunday night for Troy and the funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at St. John s Church with Rev. N. Lehmann in charge.  Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery.

NOTE:
This is father of Christian F. Pfister who owned the Mayflower Theater and was married to Katherine Heater in 1927.

Margaret Pfister Kessler died 13 Feb. 1950 Miami Co., OH age 97. She married Charles Kessler 9 Jan 1875 Miami County.

John Christian (brother of George) died 3 Dec 1944 Troy age 74-1-21;  b. 12 Oct 1870 Germany.  lived at 620 S. Clay St.
