SAGER, MRS. MARY
- Piqua - Mrs. Mary Sager, widow of the
late John Sager, died Monday evening at 6 o'clock at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Harley McCabe, No. 321 Spring Street. Mrs. Sager had been
ill only since last Thursday night suffering from pneumonia. The deceased
was a native of Miami County and passed her entire life within its borders.
She was born near Tippecanoe City. As a young woman, she married John
Sager, in August 1868, with whom she lived happily 38 years or until his
death 6 years ago. To them were given three children of whom but one, Mrs.
Harley McCabe, is living. She is survived also by one brother, John Bayhour,
of Troy. Forty years were spent upon a farm near Midway. Four years ago
Mrs. Sager gave up the burden and responsibilities of conducting her farm
and housekeeping and came to Piqua to live with her daughter, Mrs. McCabe.
For more than 50 years she was a faithful member and communicant of the
English Lutheran Church at Troy. She leaves many friends to mourn her
death. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the McCabe
home on Spring Street. The service was conducted by her pastor, the Rev.
Paulus, of Troy. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery at Troy.
