"Death of Elizabeth Cruse"
Elizabeth Rench Cruse, widow of August Cruse, died this morning at 10 o'clock
from a gradual exhaustion, incident to the failing vitality of old age. She was
born 84 years ago today, in Huntington Co. Pa., and came to Piqua in 1838.
She was the mother of eight children who survive her and they were to have
celebrated her 84th birthday anniversary today, instead of which death claims
his own and the long journey of life ends at the milestone.
The deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a consistent
Christian lady, held in high estimation by all who knew her.
Rev. P. M. Weddell will conduct the funeral service, which will be at the
residence of her daughter, Cinderella Cruse, 520 E. Ash street, at 1 o'clock
Thursday.

"Celebrates Her Birthday in Eternity"
The 2d day of March, Mrs. Elizabeth Cruse, relict of August Cruse who died in
1881, would have celebrated her 84th birthday. It was decreed otherwise. She had
been ailing for some time and during the last five weeks was confined to her
bed, and that morning at 10 o'clock quietly passed away. Her illness was more
general debility due to her age than anything else. Elizabeth Rench was born in
Huntingdon, Co., Pa. On the 19th of March 1828 she married Augustus Cruse.
In 1838 the couple moved to Piqua where they made their home. Her husband died
in August, 1881. Eight children mourn her loss. She had been living with her
daughter Cinderella since the death of her husband, on 520 West Water street
from whence her remains were taken on Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock. As she
had been a faithful member of the Baptist church. Rev. P. M. Weddell officiated
