Resident Dies Early This Morning
Mrs.
Mary J. Winbigler Werts passed away this morning at 5:25 o’clock at the home
of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Rech, following a serious
illness of only four days. She had
suffered the misfortune of sustaining a fracture of the hip last September but
had fully recovered from that injury and seemed to be enjoying fairly good
health and her death which is thought to be the result of uremic poisoning, came
as a shock to members of her family and friends.
Mrs.
Werts was born and reared near Brock in Darke County and has lived a long and
most useful life of 83 years. Her
kindly interest in others and her words of cheer often lightened the burdens of
many. She was always interested in
the welfare of her loved ones and found great enjoyment in their happiness.
She was eager to grasp the opportunity to be of real service to anyone in
need of help. It can truly be said
by those who had the privilege of association with such a noble character, that
it was good to know her. For the past three years she has resided with her daughter.
Her
survivors are her daughter, Mrs. Estella Rech, one grandson, J. B. Campbell and
one great grand son Jan Campbell. She
was preceded in death by her husband J. B. Werts and a daughter who passed away
at the youthful age of thirteen years.
Brief
funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rech at 19 North Wall
St. Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock followed by services at the Congregational
Church in Versailles of which she
was a member at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. H. A. Smith officiating, assisted by
Rev. Cecil Leck. Interment will be made in the Versailles Cemetery in charge
of G. W. Miller.
