Mrs. Mae Metzger Succumbs Sunday

Mrs. Malinda Mae Wooner Metzger, widow of John B. Metzger, passed away at 4:00 o'clock A.M. Sunday at her home at 152 North High Street, following a short illness. She took sick during the night Friday but was very much improved Saturday morning and continued to seem better at lunch time when Mrs. Young was a guest in the home. Mrs. Young left soon afternoon thinking that Mrs. Metzget was all right, but in her absence she became critically ill. She was able to call Central asking that Dr. Rahl be summoned and upon his arrival he found her to be in a serious condition. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller came to her home to care for her and remained until about midnight Saturday night at which time it was necessary for them to return home, leaving her in the care of a friend. Mr. and Mrs. Miller returned quite early Sunday morning but she had already slept peacefully away, just as she had often expressed would be her desired way of going.

Her sincere appreciation of friends and relatives endeared her to a large circle who always found her interested in their activities, their problems and sorrows, as well as their enjoyments, and kind and considerable to every one. She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the M. and M. Club.

She is survived by seven nieces one of whom is Mrs. John Hecker and nephews, one of who is Charles Miller. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago. She is also survived by Frank Miller, of St. Louis and Clarence Woods of Covington who came into her home as roomers and to whom she has been a real mother.

Funeral services as arranged by the deceased will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at her late home with Rev. Mitchell officiating using the text selected by Mrs. Metzger. Interment will be made in Highland Cemetery.
