A streptococcus infection of the throat resulted in death following an illness of only a few hours for Donald Smith Reeder, 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman W. Reeder of 339 Tibet Road, Columbus. The child was stricken about noon Thursday and died at 2:45 o'clock in the afternoon. Born December 22, 1929, in Columbus he was the son of Herman W. and Lucille Smith Reeder, and had passed about five years of his brief life in Piqua. He attended Crestview School, Columbus, where he was a fourth grade pupil. He was also a member of Crestview Presbyterian Church. Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, Naomi Jane Reeder, at home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Reeder of the Statler pike, Miami County, and Mrs. G. W. Smith; three uncles, Maynard Reeder of the Statler pike, Ernest Reeder of Columbus and Gus E. Smith of Cleveland; an aunt, Mrs. Ruth Sprecher of Tipp City; a Great aunt Miss Edith M. Lane of Columbus and a great uncle Waldo Reeder of the Snodgrass Pike. Private services will be conducted at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Reeder residence in Columbus by Dr. Gavin Reilly of that city after which the body will be brought to Piqua where another service will be held at three o'clock Saturday afternoon at the J. C. Cron and Sons chapel. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.
