December 19, 1932
Henry Raymond Minton, second son of Abram Wilson Minton and Laura Himes Minton was born at Covington, Ohio, October 6, 1883 and departed this life at the Veterans Hospital, Gulfport, Mississippi, December 13, 1932 after a long illness. Mr. Minton graduated from Covington High School with the class of 1901. He worked for the National Cash Register Co. in Dayton, Ohio for several years and then went to Seattle, Washington where he lived for some years being engaged first in the real estate business and later in the newspaper advertising business. He later went to New, Orleans, La. where he conducted an advertising business until the outbreak of the war. He volunteered and was assigned to the 4th Co. WO. C.A C. and while in camp contracted sleeping sickness which eventually led to his death. He was mustered out after the signing of the armistice and for a while attempted to continue his work but the fatal disease made this impossible. For the last few years he was confined first in the government hospital at New Orleans, La. and later at Gulfport, Miss. where his death occurred. In the summer of 1932 he suffered a fall which resulted in a fractured hip and elbow which hastened his death. The body was brought to Covington and layed away in the family lot in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Minton is survived by two brothers and one sister, F. M. Minton of Columbus, W. P. Minton of Dayton and Lillian Minton Berry of Detroit. The father and mother and oldest brother Roy, and an infant brother Jay preceded him in death.
The brothers and sister of Mr. Minton wish to extend thanks and grateful appreciation to friends, relatives and the American Legion for their many kindness to us at the time of the burial of our brother.
