Troy, O.- Cleo Zechar, 28 years old, tenant of the No.2 V. E. Neal farm just west of Eldean, was killed about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon when he was buried under a slide of lime dust at a stone quarry just south of Piqua in the Hemm Road. The lime dust, stored in a huge pile, buried Zechar after first pinning him against the side of his truck. He suffered a broken neck, a deep cut on the head, a fractured left leg and a broken jaw besides internal injuries. Accompanied by Oliver Stager and Ed Swigart, also employees of the Neal farm organization, Zechar had gone to the quarry for a truck load of lime dust to repair a driveway. The men had started to load the truck from the bottom of the pile when a slide started from the top. Zechar saw the slide and yelled to his companions to jump. Stager and Swigart jumped clear, but Zechar was right between his truck and the pile of dust, which was made heavy by the recent rains. Stager and Swigart dug frantically to release their companion and removed him from the lime dust after a few minutes. Dr. A. J. Bausman, of Piqua was called but Zechar died as soon as the doctor arrived. The body was taken to the Cron Funeral Parlors in Piqua and later removed to the Irvin Funeral Home here. Funeral services will be held at Abbottsville, Darke County, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial here.
