Martha Heckman Dies Sunday
Cousin of Local Resident Dies Following An Extended Illness
Rites Tuesday P. M.
Mrs. Martha Heckman, widow of Gus Heckman, of Phillipsburg passed away Sunday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock. Mrs. Heckman had spent the past two weeks in the home of her cousins, Mrs. Mary Inman and Misses Belle and Anna Abernathy and was being removed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Grove in the Stocker and Porter ambulance and died enroute. Mrs. Heckman had been in failing health for the past year and been confined since the first of January suffering from complications of diseases. During her illness she had been cared for in the Grove home and greatly enjoyed her recent visit in Covington. The deceased was born in Berkley Springs, West Virginia, November 28th, 1857 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Middleton Duckwell (Harriet Ann Abernathy). Mrs. Heckman has no immediate survivors, her cousins mentioned above being the nearest relatives. Her husband preceded her in death, October 10, 1934. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Phillipsburg Christian Church of which she was a faithful member. Rev. O. S. Thomas will officiate. Burial will be made in the Phillipsburg Cemetery under the direction of Koch and Hay.
