David Fessler was born in Loramie Township, Shelby County, Ohio on Sept. 4, 1854. He departed this life, at his home on the Range Line Road on Thursday evening August 8th, 1935. His age was 80 years, 11 months, and 4 days. He was twice married. The first marriage was to Lavina Apple in 1881. to this union three children were born, Izora Snyder, Bertha Grice, and one son Arthur, who died several years ago. The wife died in 1901. The second marriage was to Ella Fessler who lives to mourn his death after many years of loyal devotion during much illness. One son to this union died in infancy. There are ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mr. Fessler was one of a family of ten children- five brothers and five sisters. Of this number only one sister is living, Mrs. Loucinda Clark of Piqua. A wide circle of other relatives and acquaintances live to mourn his death. He was baptized in infancy and at the age of 16 became a confirmed member of Frieden's Lutheran congregation. When St. Paul's congregation on the county line was organized he transferred his membership where he remained faithful until his death. At different times he served on the church council. He was regular in church attendance so long as health permitted. During the last fifteen years, Mr. Fessler underwent several different operations. He seemed to be at the point of death on different occasions, but he would rally and enjoy good health for awhile. Nearly three years ago he was stricken with a type of neuritis of the nerves which caused him intense suffering at times. Medical skill from various sources failed to restore him. For several weeks he had grown weaker, and finally fell into the sleep of death on last Thursday evening. Dave Fessler was of a jovial disposition. He had many friends. He was a kind and devoted husband and father.
