Word Received Of
George VanAtta's
death
Word was received about 10 o'clock this morning by Covington relatives of the sudden death of Mr. George W. VanAtta who passed away this morning at the home of his niece, Mrs. Blanche VanAtta of Ada. Mr. VanAtta had been in his usual health and his sudden death due to a heart attack came as a shock to his relatives and many friends. He was 69 years of age. The deceased is widely known having spent the greater part of his life in Covington. Last September he went to make his home in Ada following the death of Mrs. VanAtta. The earlier part of his life Mr. VanAtta followed the teaching profession and taught in several of the rural districts throughout the county. Following his teaching career he was a rural mail carrier out of Covington which position he held for 30 years. He retired 4 years ago. Mr. VanAtta was a devout member of the Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and elder of that congregation for a number of years. Immediate survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Alice Dill of Brookville and two sons Wayne and Leslie both of Covington, three sisters and two brothers and six grandchildren also survive besides a wide acquaintance of friends. The body of the deceased will be removed to the home of Mr. Leslie VanAtta late today. Funeral arrangements are being completed today and will be announced in Friday's paper.
