Mary Elmina Gangwer Snyder
Mary Elmina Snyder was born Elkhart Co., Clinton Township, Indiana April 25, 1866. She departed this earthly life at the home of her son Ligonier, Indiana on Saturday morning September ?, 1934 having reached the age of 68 years 4 months and 7 days. Mrs. Snyder was twice married. The first marriage was to Samuel Gangwer in 1883. To this union two children were born; two sons Harvey C. Gangwer and James F. Gangwer. The first husband died in 1890. The second marriage was to Anderson Snyder in 1893. To this union one son Forrest was born. Of the immediate family there live to mourn her sudden departure the three sons, one sister Mrs. Bertha Chrisman, Millersburg, Indiana; C. B. Stiver of Des Moines, Iowa; F. E. Stiver of Los Angeles, California; one step-daughter, one step-son, three grandchildren. There are many other more distant relatives. She was baptized in infancy and later in life became a member of the Reformed Church at Millersburg, Indiana. For many years, during the life of Mr. Snyder she lived near Polo, north of Covington, Ohio. After the death of her husband she made her home for the rest of her life with Forrest. She enjoyed fairly good health up until last February when she suddenly became ill and at times suffered intensely. She was a patient sufferer. A faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor passed to her reward.
