Henry G. Ullery
Henry G. Ullery, one of Newberry Township's pioneers, was called to his reward last Wednesday morning. Mr. Ullery was a son of Jacob Ullery, who settled on the lands of which Covington now forms a part. Jacob Ullery, came to Newberry Township, in 1810. He made a clearing near the present residence of Col. Ullery and sowed a piece in wheat, in 1811. The large white brick house at the intersection of the two railroads was the old homestead, where the Ullerys were brought up. Covington was platted by D. Wright, in 1816, and the first addition was made by Jacob Ullery, in 1831. A second addition, was platted by him, in 1841. H. G. Ullery, was an exemplary man, devoted to his friends and loving the Master's Cause, he sought to advance it by a faithful ministry. Funeral services conducted by Rev. W. D. Samuel, at the late home on N. High Street, Friday afternoon. Interment in Highland Cemetery.
