Apoplexy Is Fatal to John R. Miller Expires While Waiting In Auto for Son and Wife To Return From Hospital.
John R. Miller, father of Bearl Miller, of Pleasant Hill, died very suddenly Tuesday afternoon about two o'clock, following a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Miller had accompanied his son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bearl Miller, to the Piqua hospital to call on a relative of Mrs. Miller. Mr. Miller stated that he would remain in the car, although he had not remarked anything about not feeling well. Upon their return, they found him slumped over in the car and immediately summoned a physician from the hospital, who pronounced him dead and named apoplexy as the cause. Mr. Miller has resided in the home of his son for the past 3 months, and has been enjoying good health. His unexpected death came as a shock to the family. The deceased was born on a farm in Darke County, March 31, 1865 and previous to his coming to Pleasant Hill he had resided in Greenville. He was a member of the Oakland Church of the Brethren. Surviving are six children, one daughter and four sons; Mrs. Mary M. Hole of Dayton, Bearl of Pleasant Hill, Samuel of Bradford, Jesse of Greenville, Charles of Logansport, Indiana and Ernest of Chicago. A brother Jacob. R. Miller of Greenville and eight grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Geeting Funeral Parlors in Pleasant Hill. Rev. Samuel J. Adams pastor of the Brethren church will officiate. The body of the deceased will be in state at the Geeting Funeral Home. Interment will be made in the Harris Creek Cemetery.
