Mrs. Aaron Landis
Barbara Garber Landis, the seventh child of a family of twelve children, of Elder Jacob and Elizabeth Garber, who was born near Dayton, Ohio, Jan. 26, 1857. On Dec. 7, 1879 she was united in marriage to Aaron L. Landis Elder David Kimmel officiating. This union was graced with the presence of four children; Mrs. Elizabeth Rasor and Howard Landis, both of Covington. Frank Landis, deceased Jan. 15, 1934 and Charles Landis of Hamilton, Ohio. Early in her teens, Mrs. Landis became a member of the Church of the Brethren and was for some 66 years devoted to her Lord and faithful to her church, being a regular attendant of the church services and a dependable member of the Ladies Aid, together with other activities. In the year of her marriage she with her husband moved in the bounds of the Covington church and have resided there ever since. Hers was a mind that desired to be informed and she was therefore a reader of her church paper all these years. Though mature in years she was young in spirit and was loved by the children of her community. Early Thursday morning Oct. 28, 1937 she quietly passed out of the body, leaving to mourn her departure her husband, four grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Hattie Long of Trotwood, besides many relatives and a host of friends. To the neighbors and friends the family extends their thanks and hearty appreciation for the many kindnesses shown.
