Anna Mary Catherine O'Roark, wife of Wilbert Luther O'Roark departed from this earth August 25, 1937 at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 2 days, at her home in Tenth Legion, Va., after a brief illness. She was the only child of John and Emma McGoon and the granddaughter of the late Lewis and Mary Strickler. Born April 22, 1879 at Tenth Legion, Va., and was united in marriage to W. L. O'Roark Oct. 15, 1895. To this union was born eight children, Lewis, Josephine Elton, John, Frank, Jesse, Catherine, Virginia, and Ada, all surviving except John who died when only a few weeks old.
She joined the Bethlehem Christian Church at Tenth Legion early in life and always took an active part in its work whenever her health permitted. Surviving the deceased are her husband W. L. O'Roark, four daughters, Mrs. Elton Beard of Covington, Ohio, Mrs. Catherine Guenthner of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Ada Blair of Winchester, Va. Three sons, Lewis, Frank and Jesse of Covington, Ohio, fifteen grandchildren and J. L. Strickler of Tenth Legion, who is an uncle besides these named. There is a number of other relatives and friends in this community and Ohio, and Florida, where she spent a great part of her life. Her death will be greatly mourned by all who knew her because her willingness to be a friend and helper to all in need shall never be forgotten. She strived to serve her family at all times, only as a loving mother could, even though unable to do so many times, due to illness, but her undaunted spirit carried on and was an inspiration for her husband and family to carry on life's work even after the hand of God had summoned her to come and leave the earthly things of life behind in exchange for her heavenly reward.
