Mrs. Katharyn Motter Yenger, age 24, wife of Warren Yenger, daughter of Mrs. Blanche (Carson) Motter/Hamilton of East Canal Street, Troy, succumbed to brain fever, which developed following influenza, Saturday morning at 4 o'clock at Stouder Memorial Hospital where she had been confined 10 days.
Mrs. Yenger had returned to the home of her mother five weeks ago from the hospital, following the birth of her son, David Martin Yenger, and contracted influenza, which is believed induced the brain fever. Her condition had been critical for nearly a week.
Kathryn Motter Yenger was born in Troy, November 04, 1908 to Fred Motter and Blanche Carson. She attended Troy public schools until her second year in high school when she discontinued her studies. She was employed formerly at the Troy Telephone Company.
Mrs. Yenger leaves besides her husband, Warren Yenger, two small children, Barbara age 2 and David age 6 weeks, her mother, Mrs. Blanche Hamilton, two sisters, Zelma and Mildred Motter, one brother, Louis Crooks, of Willard, Ohio and a half-sister Mary Margaret Hamilton. Her father, the late Fred Motter of Troy, Ohio preceded her in death 17 years ago.
The auditorium of the First Christian Church was filled Monday afternoon for final rites which were conducted at 2 o'clock with Dr. J. H. Lightbourne, pastor of the church in charge.
Mrs. Yenger, who spent her entire life in Troy, was member of the First Christian Church and attended Class No. 12 of the Sunday school, taught by Mrs. C. W. Montgomery. Members of Class 12 and Class 7 taught by Mrs. Laura Humphreys of which Mrs. Fred (Gertrude) Yenger and Mrs. Martin V. (Blanche) Hamilton are members, were present at the obsequies in groups.
Six intimate friends of the decedent, some of whom were members of Mrs. Yenger's Sunday school class, were selected as honorary pall bearers. They were Misses Miriam Reichard, Edith Fletcher, Lottie Shanks, Alice Kennedy, Miriam Thompson, and Mrs. Marvin Knife.
Burial was made in Riverside cemetery with the following bearing the pall: George Reichard, William Hamilton, Dale Yenger, Marvin Knife, Paul Motter and Harold Bouknecht.
