Troy Serviceman Dies in Accident
Troy- Duane Delbert Zimmerman, 26, of the Army located at Ft. Benning, Ga., was reported killed in a motorcycle accident in a message received yesterday morning by his wife, Mrs. Mary Estella Zimmerman, 1220 West Main street. Only information obtainable at the present is that Private Zimmerman was just starting home on a furlough and had purchased the motorcycle for the trip. He was dead on arrival at the station hospital at Ft. McPherson, Ga.
He was born May 26, 1918 and prior to his induction into service June 14, he was an employee of the Aeroproducts company in Vandalia.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Betsy Annette, 4, and Patricia Jean, 26 months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jud Zimmerman of Pleasant Hill; two brothers, Robert of Dayton and Pvt. Charles Zimmerman, in Holland; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jackson of Troy.

Final Rites Thursday for Pvt. Zimmerman
Funeral Services for Pvt. Duane Zimmerman, Troy, who has been stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., and met death in a motorcycle accident, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Church of the Brethren in Pleasant Hill with Rev. Edwin Royer, Pleasant Hill and Paul E. Plasterer, Covington, officiating. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Members of the Clifford Thompson post of the American Legion will conduct services at the grave.
The body of Private Zimmerman is expected to arrive in Troy at 1:56 a.m. Wednesday over the B. & O. and will be accompanied by an escort. It will be taken to the Irvin Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 p.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday.
