Polo Boy Killed By "Empty" Gun
The tragic death of Roy Cotterman, 13, occurred at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Judd Cotterman, who live near Polo, Saturday afternoon at about two o'clock, at which time he was shot and instantly killed by his brother Harold, aged 16. The parents were not at home at the time, but the children relate that they were playing with a pistol borrowed from a neighbor last week when butchering. The boy had been shooting mark at stumps and trees and finally thinking that the gun was empty Harold pointed it at his brother and fired. The bullet struck the lad in the head entering the skull just behind the left ear killing him instantly. Neighbors summoned called Dr. Bausman of Bradford and the parents who were also in that village, but nothing could be done. Funeral services have been arranged for Tuesday afternoon and will be held in the Wagner Funeral parlors in Bradford. Surviving besides the parents and the sixteen year old brother are three brothers and a sister.
