Jacob Sylvester Minnich
Jacob Sylvester Minnich, son of George and Margaret Cosper Minnich, was born December 29, 1861, on a farm near Pleasant Hill, Ohio, and departed this life on October 29, 1931, at his home in Bradford, O., at the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 22 days.
His father and mother both passed on before he reached the age of fifteen, leaving him to make his home with a half-brother, David E., who lived on a farm five miles west of Pleasant Hill.
At the age of sixteen, he united with the Church of the Brethren at Pleasant Hill, later transferring his membership to the Harris Creek Church.
On January 10, 1884, he was married to Cora Alice Miles of the same neighborhood. To this home-loving union were born four children: Bessie Alova, who preceded her father in death in May, 1918, Omer M., who resides in St. Petersburg, Florida, Albert G. and Jay W., who live near the home of father and mother.
His greatest enjoyment was found in his work and his home. Never did he hesitate to do anything in his power to further the cause of his children. His home and his children were sacred to him.
During his illness he continually tried to assist himself rather than receive help from his family. Many times he relied on his faith in God, asking the Lord to be merciful to his cause. A loving wife and mother was always at his bedside to bestow all the care possible. The prayers of them were continually being petitioned to God. And from Him Who knows best, the answer came.
He leaves beside the immediate family, nine grandchildren, (one of whom, Bessie's daughter Irene, has made her home with father and mother since 1918) one sister, Elsie Jane Laughman, of Pleasant Hill, one brother, Ora of Bradford and a host of other relatives and friends.
