Death Summons Well Known Citizen
Mr. M. F. Maier, of Pearl St., passed away last evening at 10:45 at Memorial Hospital, Piqua. Mr. Maier had been ill for some time, and became dangerously stricken Saturday and was removed to the hospital where all attempts to revive him were fruitless.
The deceased was one of Covington's best known and beloved citizens, having been born and reared in the village. He took active part in the affairs of the Christian Church of which he was a member from his youth, and was also active in fraternal circles, being a member of both the I. O. O. F. and Masonic orders.
For twenty-two years he was employed as traveling salesman for the William Walke Company of St. Louis, but for the last few years had accepted a similar position with the Chatterton Company of Cincinnati.
Surviving are his widow, one daughter Mrs. Harvey Cox, of Ludlow Falls; one son Harmon Maier, of Columbus, two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Smith of Covington, Mrs. Anna Reed of Piqua, and a brother Charles Maier of Piqua and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Congregational Christian Church with interment in Highland Cemetery.
