John Ruben Rike Succumbs Today

The community was shocked this morning to hear of the death of Mr. Ruben Rike, although he has been in poor health during the winter months it was not thought his end was so near. Mr. Rike had suffered from the effects of an inward goiter with neuritis and other complications.  Mr. Rike was widely known in the community having a blacksmith and welding shop on Spring Street, where he worked for the past thirty- five or forty years. Mr. Rike would have been sixty-four years of age May 3rd.  The wife, Mrs. Altisha Speelman Rike, with the son and daughter, Mr. Rodney Rike of Middletown and Mrs. Clinton Kellenberger survive him. Three grandchildren, Gene Dale Rike, Virginia Lee and Imogene Kellenberger also remain. Mr. George Rike is an only brother with the four sisters, Mrs. Angle Fine, Mrs. Etta Drake and Mrs. Jacob Heitzman all of Piqua and Mrs. Charles Ferry, of Logansport, Indiana. There are also many other relatives and friends who regret the passing of a kind neighbor and honest friend.  Funeral services will be held from the home on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock Rev. William Christian, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of which Mr. Rike was a member, will have charge of the services.  Burial in Highland Cemetery. Geo. Miller, Funeral Director.
