Christena Longnecker
Christina, the youngest of a family of ten children who came to bless the home of Jacob and Elizabeth Deeter, was born on a farm near Pleasant Hill, Ohio, on June 8th, 1851, and departed this life as the evening shades were falling on February 2, 1928, after an earthly sojourn of 76 years, 7 months and 24 days.
On March 24, 1877 she was united in marriage to Joseph Longnecker who preceded her in death on August 31, 1916. To this union one son, Forrest C. was given. Upon him she lavished all her affections, especially during the long sickness which finally called him to the other world on March 4th, 1926.
Mrs. Longnecker was a charter member of the Brethren Church, which she has served faithfully thro' many years.
She was the last member of her family, her father, mother, brothers and sisters, husband and son have preceded her in death. Only a loyal daughter-in-law and a tiny grandson are left of her immediate family, to mourn with many nephews, nieces and a wide circle of friends, her departure. And yet while we will miss her in her accustomed place, we can agree with the poet who said:
Forever near us, though unseen
The dear immortal spirits tread
For all the boundless universe
Is life - there is no dead.
