Caroline Martin
Caroline Reiber Martin, daughter of Peter and Katherine Reiber was born near Pleasant Hill, Ohio, June 14th, 1854 and departed to be with the Lord December 20th, 1928, from the home of her son-in-law, Wm. Wagner of Covington, aged 74 years, 5 months and 26 days. She was one of a family of five children, two daughters and three sons. She lived the greater part of her life near and in Covington. She first married to Wiltz Shuman. To them were born one son and one daughter. The son James Shuman preceded his mother in death twelve years ago. The daughter, Emma, now Mrs. John Brinkman lives near Covington. Later in life she married James Martin. To this union was born one daughter, Edith, Mrs. Wm. Wagner, who was called to her home four years ago. Besides the above mentioned daughter she is survived by seven grandchildren and one brother, Henry Reiber, of Kokomo, Indiana. She has been a loyal member of the Church of the Brethren since her girlhood. Mrs. Martin was a great lover of the church and was faithful in attendance at the services as long as health permitted. By her fine Christian character she had endeared herself and her full strength to the care of those she so much loved. In her passing the family loses a devoted true mother; the church loses one who was loyal and faithfully active in the service of her Lord; the community loses one who was held in high esteem by all who had the opportunity of knowing her. The family wishes to express their thanks to all who rendered assistance during the sickness and loss of their mother.
