Anna M. Baker Tullis Miller
Anna M. Baker was born in Elizabethtown, Conn. Feb. 12, 1834 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace Janes, April 22, 1914. As a child she moved from her home in Connecticut, to Cincinnati, Ohio, where in 1852 she was united in marriage to Archibald Tullis. To this union was born one child Maggie who was waiting in the beyond to welcome mother home. Mr. Tullis lived but a short time, being killed during the civil war. Sometime after his death she was again married. In 1864 she became the wife of James Henry Miller. To this union were born four children, one boy Elza, who died at the age of two years, and three girls, Mrs. May Buirley, Mrs. Ida Butcher and Mrs. Grace Janes, all of whom are living.
In early life Mrs. Miller united with the U. B. church and later transferred her membership to the Wesleyan Methodist and remained a member of this church.
Grandma Miller, as she was familiarly known, was a woman of sterling Christian character. Christ was a precious Savior and friend to her. Her earnest desire was to go and be home with God expressed in the beautiful song she repeated just before her death:
"I would not live always, I ask not to stay,
Where storm after storm rises dark o'er the way;
The few lurid mornings that dawn on us here
Are enough for life's woes, full enough for its cheer,
She indeed, 'finished the fight and kept the faith'."
She leaves to mourn her loss, her daughters, a sister, Mrs. Hannah Mong of Albany, Ind., and a brother James Baker of Florida, Missouri who is quite sick at this time, fifteen great-grand- children and a host of friends and neighbors. Hers was the life of Christian crown.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. W. B. Morgan, assisted by Rev. Roger from the house Saturday, interment following at the Francisville Cemetery.
