Callyhill Weddle
On Wednesday July 8th,Casstown laid away one of her worthy citizens in the person of Callyhill Weddle, who was found lying in the road near the cemetery unconscious on the morning of July 4th, the accident occurring through a vicious colt he was driving. He was taken to the home of Dr. Wright where were employed all possible medical care and efficient nursing but all was of no avail, and after twenty-three days of suffering with only conscious moment now and then he passed away. He was one of the enterprising farmers of his vicinity, living three miles east and south of Casstown. He leaves a most devoted wife and six interesting children. He held an official standing in the German Baptist Brethren church for a number of years and was one of its most efficient members. He was a native if Floyd County Va., where the educational advantages were not good, he himself only receiving one months education, yet he was a most active educational worker having been president of the official board of the township for a number of years.
There was a very large attendance of neighbors and sympathizing friends present at the funeral, which took place in the German Baptist Brethren church in Casstown at 3:00 pm the 8th. The funeral services were conducted by Elder I. J. Rosenberger, of Covington, assisted by Elders Reed ad Wine.
