Miami Union --- Casstown Items
28 Jan 1897
The remains of Mrs. Mary Ann Cromer were laid in their last resting place in the Casstown cemetery today.
Mrs. Cromer was formerly Miss Mary Ann Wyland, and was born in Green County Ohio, November 21, 1824, and died January 19, 1897, being of the age of 72 years, 1 month, and 29 days.
She was married on the 18th day of March 1845, to Owen Cromer, by which union there were three boys and three girls. She was a devoted mother and an earnest Christian, having been a member of the Baptist church over fifty years.
Before the spirit took its flight she called the members of the family to her bedside and her last words to them were that they should honest and good through life and to meet her in Heaven. She said that she wanted to be at rest, and that was the topic Rev. Carney spoke on today at the funeral. He was assisted by Rev. McIlvain, of Casstown.
Mrs. Davy, Mrs. David, and Mr. Stetson sang the favorite hymns of the deceased, "Nearer my God to Thee," and Asleep in Jesus, Blessed Sleep."
She was followed to the tomb by a host of loving friends, each anxious
to have a share in honoring the remains of one whom all loved and admired.
