Eugene Edward Godown
On the twenty-fourth day of May, 1905, in the village of Laura, Ohio a little son, the first of two sons and two daughters, came to bless the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Godown.
He was a winsome lad grew to manhood in the home of the family, leaving the parental homestead only a few months ago to make a home for himself and his bride, formerly Miss Hazel Divens, whom he married on March 2nd, 1927.
From a mere child he was troubled with an affection which finally resulted in his removal to Memorial Hospital, Piqua, Ohio, on Saturday, August 6th, where an operation was performed in an effort to save his life.
But man's efforts were futile, and at 2 o'clock, Friday morning, August 12th, he breathed his last, having reached the age of 22 years, 2 months and 17 days. Besides his bride of four months, he leaves his father and mother, one brother, Emerald, two sisters, Velva and Velma a host of friends and acquaintances who will remember him for his sunny disposition and jolly good-nature.
I know not what the future hath
of marvel or surprise
Assured alone that life and death
His mercy underlies.
