Mrs. Jesse Reed.
Jesse the elder of two daughters, who came to bless the home of John and Eliza Squires, was born at Middletown, Ohio, March 2nd, 1874 and departed this life on Wednesday evening, Feb. 8th, 1928, after a sojourn of 53 years, 11 mos, and 6 days.
On Oct. 14, 1912, she was united in marriage to Fred Reed, who departed this life, August 5, 1923.
Soon after their marriage they came to Pleasant Hill and established their home. One very unusual and beautiful characteristic of this home was the splendid spirit in which the daughters and son accepted Jesse, as we love to call her, into their family circle. There never has seemed to exist one thought or action that would indicate an unwelcome to her and she in turn gave back to them her love and unbiased faith and very often has been heard to give expressions about each of them that would suggest complete faith in their integrity with her.
Her quiet and unassuming nature coupled with a flawless character were the foundation for innumerable ideals from which she could not be swerved. Very early in this union they united with the P. H. Christian Church to which they both remained faithful until death.
Mrs. Reed leaves to mourn her passing, her aged father, the sister, a niece and a great host of loving relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed but our consolation comes in this remembrance that her life was likened to the words of that beautiful song.
