The Rev. Asbery Watkins, who preached for the church of this place a few years ago, died at his home near Piqua, the 10th inst, and was buried at Covington on the 12th.

Asbury Watkins was born on 12 Dec 1818 in Ohio, and died on 10 May 1882, aged 63y, 4m, 28d. He is buried in the Highland Cemetery at Covington, Miami County Ohio. Asbury first married in Greene Co Ohio on 20 Feb 1839 to Matilda Hartsock, who was born in September 1818 and died on 6 Nov 1867. They had seven children. She is buried beside Asbury. He married second on 28 Mar 1871 to Rebecca Moon, who was born 02 May 1840 and died 26 Jan 1917. Rebecca is buried in Fletcher Cemetery at Fletcher, Miami County Ohio with her first husband, Nicholas Chapman. Asbury and Rebecca had three children. Asbury was an ordained minister of the Christian Church, today known as the United Church Of Christ, and one of the founders of the Charity Chapel Christian Church in 1864.
