COPPOCK, ESTHER - Esther Coppock was born January 8, 1815, and died January 31, 1901, aged 86 years.  She was the oldest daughter of William and Mary (Pearson) Miles, was born and reared on a farm in the southern part of Newton township, was married to Benj. Coppock, April 24, 1839, and to these parents were born four children, Anson, David, Almeda and Elwood.  Anson; the eldest died in infancy, and the daughter, Almeda, December, 1865.  Her husband departed this life in September 1888.  The two sons are the only members of the family left.  Benj. and Esther Coppock commenced life together on a piece of timberland, one mile west of Ludlow Falls, where they hewed out of the forest a comfortable house, on which she resided until Thanksgiving day, 1899, when, owing to her advanced age, and enfeebled condition, she was removed to the home of her son, David.  She had a birthright membership in the Society of Friends, and ever remained a faithful, consistent member, always found in her place in church service, whenever her health and circumstances permitted.  Thus has passed away a faithful wife, a kind and indulgent mother and a useful member of the church, and one whose example is worthy of imitation.
