Funeral rites for Mrs. Edith Pearson Hissong, 80, mother of Clyde Hissong, director of the state department of education, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Center Friends church, with burial in the Potsdam cemetery. Rev. Paul Shugart and Rev. Marie Castle officiated at the services. Mrs. Hissong's death occurred Friday evening in her home near Laura. Surviving are her husband, Samuel; six sons, Clyde of Columbus, Chalmer, Arthur, Elbert, Delbert and Raymond all residents of the West Milton community; daughter, Mrs. Vernon Minnich of Ludlow Falls; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Mote and Mrs. Ella Puterbaugh, both of West Milton, and Mrs. Mary Puterbaugh of Tipp City; brother, Ohmer Pearson, near Arcanum.
