John H. Whiteman
John Herbert Whiteman, 73, 109 North Hyatt street,
Tipp City, retired grocer, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday in Stouder Memorial
hospital, where he had been a patient since Feb. 25, suffering from the
effects of a stroke a year ago. Services were conducted at 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday in the Coppock and Lee Memorial home in Tipp City with Rev. Donald
Shaw in charge. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.
A native of Hillsboro, Ky., he had conducted a
grocery business at the corner of Main and Hyatt streets in Tipp City for 35
years until retirement two years ago, and was a member of the Tipp City
Methodist church.
His wife, Mrs. Artie Jacobs Whiteman; four
children, Edward and Kenneth, at home, Mrs. H. O. Long and Mrs. C. W. Durst,
both of Tipp City, survive. There are also two grandchildren.
