Earl J. Worthington
Earl J. Worthington, 74, retired farmer of the
Snodgrass road, north of Conover, father of Mrs. O. D. Sands of Troy and Miss
Lova Worthington a teacher in the second grade of the Kyle school died at
12:15 p.m. Sunday in the Piqua Memorial hospital following a heart attack.
He had been admitted to the hospital on March 3 after a heart attack and had
been afflicted with phlebitis for the past few weeks.
Final rites were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in
the Suber Funeral home in Fletcher. Rev. R. Wobus of Sidney officiated and
burial was in the Fletcher cemetery.
Mr. Worthington a native of Brown township had
resided in the same community all his life. He was born Jan. 20, 1875,
the son of Silas and Susan Duer Worthington and was married on Jan. 1, 1895,
to Myrtle Morris who survives. In addition to Mrs. Worthington there are
also surviving the two daughters, Mrs. Sands and Miss Worthington; three sons
Carl of Anna, Horace of Eldorado, Colo., and John S. of R. R., Conover; sister
Miss Viola Worthington of Lena; brother Harley, R. R. Fletcher; 10
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Bessie Hope, and a brother and sister,
Wilbur and Etta Worthington, preceded him in death, the daughter's death
occurring in infancy.
Mr. Worthington was a member of the Springcreek
Congregational Christian church and Social lodge 217 F. & A. M. of Lena.
