Martha J. Ullery
Martha J. Ullery was the daughter of Crampton and
Amanda Oliver. She was born in Darke County, Ohio, May 18, 1845, and
died at her home in Covington, Ohio, February 19, 1930 at the age of 84 years,
9 mo. The fruit of her life had ripened and she felt that her work had
ended and that she was ready to go.
When she was fifteen years old she was converted
and united with the United Brethren Church near Beamsville in Darke County.
From that time on she has always been a devoted member of the church.
On September 24, 1868 she was married to Jacob W.
Lecklider and to them was born one son, Oliver J Lecklider who survives his
mother and lives at Piqua, O. The husband Jacob Lecklider died in 1869.
She remained a widow for a number of years and then was married to Samuel W.
Ullery May 11, 1879. One son was born to them, Samuel R. Ullery now of
Findlay, Ohio.
In 1886 the family moved to Greenville, Ohio where
they lived for some time. While there they united with the Greenville
Christian Church. Later they came to Covington where she has since
lived. Mr. Ullery preceded her in death having died April 4, 1916.
Since that time she has lived much of the time alone here in her home.
When they came to Covington about forty-two years ago, they brought their
membership to the Christian Church here where they were faithful members as
long as they lived.
Mrs. Ullery has been in failing health for at
least three years and found God's word a great consolation to her in that
time. Most of the facts of this sketch she wrote herself and at the end
of it she wrote "I can say with Paul, I have kept the faith."
